“Getting to Know” Lorraine & Tommy (& Buddy)

September 3rd, 2010

We met Lorraine at the Wedding Walk in East Greenwich back in March and we are so glad she decided to stop, chat and look at our work!  She then went home to discuss it with her fiance, Tommy.  Lorraine wanted Tommy to meet us and view some of our photos so we set up a meeting and the rest is history!  Lorraine and Tommy are getting married this coming weekend and it’s going to be a great day! We are very excited to photograph their wedding and can’t wait to see all their plans come together!  And it looks like not even a hurricane can get in their way!

For their “Get to Know You” session, they decided they wanted to head down to one of their favorite (or should I say Buddy’s favorite) spots!!  Buddy is their dog and like many of our couples this year, they of course wanted a few photos with him!  There is a small beach at the end of Ives Rd. that they have renamed as Buddy’s Beach!  This is one of Buddy’s favorite spots to run and swim!  It was a perfect location!  We started with some photos of just Lorraine and Tommy then had Buddy join us!  Watching him run in and out of the water time after time was hysterical!  We got some fun photos of all of them and especially of Buddy!

Lorraine is a natural in front of the camera!

As we found out they liked to have fun!!  This beach is pretty rocky but Tommy was a trooper!!  Not sure if he is smiling here or gimacing, either way he looks good!

One of our favorites, so sweet!

I think this is just a real cool shot of Lorraine!

And now for some with Buddy!!!

He couldn’t grab that ball any faster!!

Once he gets tired, to be safe, he is outfitted with the cutest lifejacket!

Thanks Lorraine and Tommy for a fun night!  Can’t wait for your wedding this weekend!!

“Getting to Know” – Kyla & Matt

August 7th, 2010

Okay, so I have been very, very, very bad about blogging!  BUT I think I have a good excuse…working!  And we are having such a GREAT summer season!  The weddings up to this point have been so much fun with such down to earth brides and grooms!  Even with all this crazy heat!   I am hoping to get better with more timely blog posts but we are now going into our busiest stretch!  We are booked every weekend until mid-September!  We then get a short few weeks off  and then head into October which is one of my favorite times of the year!  I love Fall and that is when this next awesome couple, Kyla & Matt are getting married!!  Kyla and Matt are young, fun and full of energy!  They each hold down a few jobs, they are planning their wedding and on top of that they just bought their first home!  But they didn’t just buy it and move in…they gutted several of the rooms and did a complete make over.  And they didn’t just tackle the inside they also did the outside!!  We were fortunate to be invited to their house warming party (but we had a wedding to shoot) so we stopped by the next day as they were recuperating.  We got the full tour and we were so impressed!  Kyla and Matt made us feel so at home and we had a great time hanging out with them and some of their family members.  We are very excited to shoot their wedding in October.  Matt is a fireman and they are renting an old fire truck for photos at Goddard Park and they are doing a “first look” at Matt’s family farm!  This is one of the reasons they wanted to do their “get to know you” photos on a farm.  We couldn’t use the family farm though, because it was getting a little facelift for Matt’s brother’s wedding this summer. Wow, two weddings in one year!  So, Matt talked to a few friends and we were able to take photos on another beautiful farm.  We had a great night!  Oh and another bride and groom that love their dog, so of course, ‘Halligan’ was also included in the photos!!

I love the light in this photo!

Kyla lost her stepdad to leukemia last year and they wear these green bracelets in his memory.  This is just one of the ways Kyla and Matt keeps his memory alive.

Halligan is one cute dog!!

And he is very full of energy!

This tractor was in mint condition and the barn was awesome!

Kyla was brave to head over to this pond.  I saw a huge snake there before they arrived and I decided to shoot from a distance after that!  Thank goodness for zoom lenses!!

They are just too cute!!

I really liked Kyla’s expression in this photo, so natural!

Lots of fun on the farm, can’t wait for the big day!!!

Cristen & Rob – “Get To Know You” Session

June 15th, 2010

One of our awesome framing and printing vendors, Crestar Manufacturing, gave our name to Cristen sometime last year because she and her fiance, Rob, had started to plan their November 6, 2010 wedding and they were looking for a photographer.  Cristen was living in New York at the time and was not able to get to RI often, so she contacted us via email.  Cristen researched our website and then we went back and forth through email when she decided she liked what she saw and hired us to photograph her wedding – without even meeting us!  We were finally able to meet Cristen, along with her Mom and Dad, sometime around the holidays, but unfortunately Rob was not around.  Cristen was great and we were very excited that she took the leap of faith and hired us prior to our meeting!  Her wedding sounded fantastic!  After chatting a bit with Cristen and her parents, we found out that she  grew up on the water sailing, and her parents still have a power boat that they all head out on as often as possible.  So Cristen thought maybe doing the “get to know you” session on a sailboat would be awesome!  The plan was made and wheels were put into motion.  However, as we started to plan a date for the “get to know you” session, we found out the boat that was going to used for this sailing adventure was in dry dock with no hopes of making it out this season!  No problem – there is always a Plan B.  We decided instead to take a few pictures on her Dad’s boat and then head over to Goddard Park to finish up the day.  Eddy and I have done several photoshoots at Goddard Park (great place for it, we love it) and we wanted to do something different so earlier in the week, we scoped out a few new spots.  Cristen and Rob were great and had no problems going to all the different locations we suggested!  This was the first time we had met Rob and at the start of the evening he informed us that he was a little nervous.  But after talking a bit over a cocktail at the East Greenwich Yacht Club it was clear that Rob is a funny guy and loves to make Cristen laugh!  They are now living in Rhode Island and it was great giving them some new memories here as they begin their lives together!  We had a great time with Cristen and Rob and we are very excited for their fall wedding this coming November!

Cristen is all about matching the shoes to the outfit!!

The light on this photos is so awesome!

Rob may have been nervous at the start but he quickly loosened up and had Cristen laughing the entire time!!

Quick change of outfits then we headed off to Goddard Park!  Not sure if you can see them but check out Cristen’s matching purple converse sneakers!!

The light coming through these trees was just so awesome!

Once again Rob being the funny guy and Cristen loving every minute of it!  They are great together!!

Jodi & Kevin

May 28th, 2010

Eddy and I met up with Jodi last October when she was back in RI taking care of some wedding plans.  Jodi lives and works in Connecticut but was born and raised in RI.  She actually graduated high school a few years behind Eddy, so they go way back.  Jodi, had very little time because she was getting ready to move to Minnesota for the next few months!  Okay, are you confused?  You see, Jodi is the Head Women’s Hockey Coach at Wesleyan University in CT.  AND she was chosen as one of the Assistant Hockey Coaches for the USA Women’s 2010 Hockey Team!!  She was headed to Minnesota for a few months which is where the USA Hockey training camp is located.  So, not only was she planning a wedding this year she was also headed to the Olympics!  So very cool!  To make this more confusing, we were unable to meet Kevin because he lives in New Jersey.  Okay, how many states have we covered?  So, when we started to make plans for their” get to know you” session, finding time was a little challenging.  Jodi wanted to come to Bristol – since this is where they are getting married and they could also then kill two birds with one stone and take care of some last minute wedding plans.  After the Olympics, Jodi thought her schedule would get easier but she was away at coaches conferences, hockey camps and oh, so was Kevin since he is also a hockey coach (which is how they met)!  Kevin is also in the midst of finding a a new job, and moving, since they will be settling in CT.  But, finally we were able to find some time a few weeks ago.  We met up with them at Jodi’s Aunt Patty and Uncle Dale’s beautiful home (on Bristol Harbor) which is where the wedding will take place.  The location is so perfect for a backyard wedding and to make it even more special, Patty and Dale were also married there when they bought this home several years ago!  We will save pics of the home and grounds for the wedding post, we don’t want to give anything away, BUT stay tuned because it is going to be awesome!  However, this is not the end of this funny story!  We still hadn’t met Kevin yet! The day of the “get to know you” session, it was beautiful out, so we were pumped for a great shoot but when Jodi called we were a little worried!  Kevin was on his way (from New Jersey) but would be late since he was having car trouble!  No problem, we had time to hang out with Jodi, meet her fabulous Aunt & Uncle, their two children (also in the wedding), Sadie and Zack their dog, Beethoven and Jodi’s dog Banshee!!  Poor Kevin, he arrived, said hello, had a quick beer to relax and then it was off to Colt State Park to take some pics!  Kevin, was such a trooper!!  We of course took Banshee along and as you will see, she sometimes stole the show!!!  We are very excited for their wedding in about a week!

While we waited for Kevin we took some pics of the dogs…

and Sadie & Zack!!

Then it was off to the park and Banshee was very excited!

Kristen & John

May 16th, 2010

Kristen and John were married on April 17, 2010. The day started out a bit rainy and cold, but John and Kristen didn’t let that prevent them from having a wonderful day!  They both were so relaxed and calm at the start of the day, which set the tone for the ceremony and reception!  They enjoyed every minute, which is so great to see.  The ceremony took place at St. Mary’s Church in Cranston.  Since it was drizzling a bit, Kristen and John had reserved the Sprague Mansion (also in Cranston) for pictures, so we headed over there next.  We decided if the weather cleared once we arrived at the reception (Warwick Country Club), that we would try for a few pictures outside with just Kristen and John.  And as you will see, mother nature did cooperate and we got a few outside!  Once the dancing started – it didn’t stop!  John and Kristen love to dance as do ALL their family and friends!  We had a great time with everyone and we wish John and Kristen all the best!!

John and his best man – his twin brother Jay!!!

Her flowers were gorgeous and really added a beautiful punch of color.  Kudos to Twigs Florist, Cranston, RI.

Kristen really looked just beautiful and was just beaming all day!

I love these next two shots, just really says who they are as a couple and how much fun they had all day!!

The flower girls (their nieces) were just adorable!

Taylor at 3 months old!!!

May 11th, 2010

We first met Taylor when she was only a few weeks old.  Her Mom had asked us to take a few photos of her sister, Anna (who had just turned 2) and to try and get a few of the two of them as well!  This time around the photoshoot was all about Taylor but of course we also took a few of her sister Anna while we were there.  Taylor has already changed so much since the last time we saw her and we even got to see those beautiful eyes this time!

Steve & Marie

May 1st, 2010

Steve and Marie are getting married on June 12th of this year.  We got to know them a little better last Friday night when we got together for their “get to know you session” at Roger Williams Park in Providence!  We walked around the park to some of the beautiful locations there and got a chance to hear more about their wedding day but also more about them and their love for each other.

Steve told us later that he was really nervous about the shoot and didn’t know what to expect but by the end of the night he was having a great time and really had fun!  He said he is even more excited for the wedding!  You can tell from the photos below and the way Marie looks at Steve that she just adores him.  We found out Steve is such the romantic and was pretty persistent at the start of their relationship.  Marie, didn’t think she was ready for a serious relationship but Steve’s charm and persistence won her over!  He actually brings her roses every Sunday morning…so cute!

After the shoot we got a bite to eat at one of their favorite locations, Haruki’s Japanese Restaurant in Cranston, and we felt honored that we got to share in that tradition with them!  They also have a few other traditions at Haruki’s, they order the same meals and then swap with each other the parts of the meals they each really like.  Marie, gets all the bean sprouts and carrots and Steve gets all the meat!  Match made in heaven!!

Steve and Marie are both teachers (which is how they met…along with a little help and by chance meeting from Marie’s sister!) and after spending time with them you can tell how much they love what they do and how important their students are to them.  Marie works with autistic children and Steve with children that are physically challenged. They talked a great deal about their “kids” and how much they love them!  In fact Steve and Marie often spend time on the weekends with their students!  Steve takes one of his students (he will be at the wedding) grocery shopping every Sunday (which is when he gets Marie the roses).  Knowing what they do for a living gives you a little better idea of what caring and wonderful people they are and why they not only love what they do but also the love they have for each other!

Thanks Steve and Marie for a fun night, we are very much looking forward to your wedding!

We thought this tree was so awesome and it probably won’t be so interesting with leaves on it, so it was perfect timing!

Two photographers…one focus…you!  As Eddy was getting this shot from this angle…

I was able to get this one!!

Here is that look I was telling you about…you can see she just adores him!

Marie was a little nervous when we asked them to walk out on that little bridge and Steve preceded to make her relaxed and laugh with a little rendition of Dirty Dancing (the log in the woods scene!!)

These trees were just beautiful and I was happy they were still in bloom!

What a great looking couple!!

And there it is again…that look…so awesome!

Saying Good-Bye To Nick!!

April 24th, 2010

So if everyone doesn’t mind, once in a while I am going to post a few personal photos from our vacations, adventures, everyday life and of course our crazy family.  Eddy and I have two wonderful families that we very much enjoy spending time with and we are lucky to say that our parents and siblings are our best friends!  As with most large families, there is always some event and party that we are attending and since we are photographers, we are always taking the photos!  So now and again (we won’t bore you with every event) you’ll see some photos of the “gang”.  It’s really the least we can do (give them their time in the limelight) since our families have been our models since we picked up our first cameras (way back in the day) and they continue to do so when we want to try new techniques and fun ideas!  These personal posts will also give you a little more insight into Eddy and I and what is really important to us; each other, family, friends and clients!!!!

So the next few pictures are of a little send off that we gave to my oldest nephew, Nick!  Since the economy here in RI hasn’t gotten much better, Nick decided to take advantage of an opportunity to earn some money down in Georgia, working for his Dad!  While we will miss him dearly I am proud that he is being so responsible at 19 and leaving his home, family and friends for a job!  He is only expected to be gone for a few months but I am sure to his Mom (my sister) it will feel like a lifetime!

For his farewell, we went to dinner at Oki’s Restaurant in North Providence to have some fun around the Hibachi!!  Can’t wait to you return Nick!!!  We Love You!!

Man of the hour!!!

Mom and Son!!!

Playing with our new cameras and 50mm (F1.4) lens!!

More of the family!

Then for reasons I didn’t understand, a few of the crazier family members tried this with the chopsticks!!  And yes, Eddy is one of the crazier ones!!  This group is definitely always fun but you just never know what they are doing to do…so the camera is always ready!!

In case you were wondering the chopsticks were used to eat with as well…

Back to more fun with the new cameras!

More fun around the Hibachi!

And let’s finish this post with the many faces of Eddy!!!!

Fun with Anna & Taylor on the first day of spring!

March 26th, 2010

Well, the weather couldn’t have been any better for this photo shoot and neither could two year old Anna!  She walked around the beach at Goddard Park without a care in the world!  She is definitely a natural in front of the camera!  You would think we posed her in some of these shots but really we didn’t, Anna was just being a curious two year old…she was so much fun to watch!  Her sister Taylor (only 7 weeks old) was sleeping most of the time but when she opened those eyes for a bit we were able to grab a few photos of her pretty little eyes! Thanks Tara for letting us spend some time with your little ones and we are looking forward to the family photo shoot this summer!

Photography Conference and some sightseeing as well!!

March 7th, 2010

Eddy and I are currently in Las Vegas at one of the largest photography conferences (WPPI – Wedding & Portrait Photographers International).  We decided to take some time prior to the conference starting to do a little sight seeing.  This is my first time in Vegas and I have never seen the Grand Canyon.  So once we arrived in Vegas we rented a car and hit the road to Arizona!

We got to the Canyon just in time for sunset and then got up real early (first ones in the parking lot) to see the sunrise.  It was real real cold but well worth it!!  I remembered some winter clothes but Eddy was thinking or maybe just hoping for warm weather and actually brought shorts and flip flops!!  When we got there at about 6:00 pm it was in the 30’s and when we got up the next morning for sunrise it was in the teen’s!!  So needless to say Eddy did not get to sport those shorts and flip flops!

Here are some of the pics we got during this time and then some others we captured along the road trip there and back!

Sunset!!!

Sunrise!!

The drop below us was pretty crazy!!

Luckily we didn’t see any snakes along this path!!

Eddy thought this was a Joshua Tree, I wasn’t so sure!!

Hoover Dam!!
